Privacy Policy
Last updated 1 October 2026
DisplayPilot is built to keep your data on your Mac. This policy explains the little information we do handle, and why. DisplayPilot is run by Praveen Kumar, an independent developer based in India (“we”, “us”).
The app
- DisplayPilot doesn't connect to the internet. It has no analytics, no tracking, no ads and no account.
- Everything it stores stays on your Mac: your saved setups (display names, hardware identifiers, positions, resolutions, refresh rates and color profiles), your settings and your license code. They live in ~/Library/Application Support/DisplayPilot and the app's preferences. Deleting the app and that folder removes them.
- If you turn on the window tools, DisplayPilot uses macOS Accessibility access to read and move window positions, and watches for ⌘-right-click or middle-click to show its display menu. It doesn't read what's inside your windows, record your keystrokes or send anything anywhere.
Buying Pro
Paddle, our online reseller and Merchant of Record, runs the checkout and processes your payment. Paddle collects the details it needs for that, such as your email address, country, postcode and payment details, and handles them under its own Privacy Notice. We never see your full card details.
Paddle shares your email address and order details with us so we can send your license code, help with support and handle refunds. We don't use them for marketing, and we don't sell them.
Your license code contains the email address you bought with and the date it was issued, so the app can show who it's licensed to. The code is checked on your Mac, offline.
This website
- No analytics, and no cookies of our own.
- Fonts load from Google Fonts, so Google receives your IP address and browser details (Google's Privacy Policy).
- The checkout loads Paddle's script, which may use cookies and device information to run the checkout and prevent fraud.
When you email us
If you email us, we use your address and message to reply to you.
How long we keep it
We keep your email address and order details while your license is active, so we can resend or check your code, and for as long as the law requires us to keep business records. Ask us and we'll delete what we hold, unless the law requires us to keep it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, for example under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 or the EU and UK GDPR, you can ask to see, correct or delete the personal data we hold about you, and withdraw any consent you've given. Email us to do this. For payment data, you can also contact Paddle.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle data, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
