A menu bar app for macOS

Plug in. Every display lands where you left it.

DisplayPilot remembers how your displays are arranged at home, at the office and on the road. Connect, and it puts back the arrangement, resolutions, refresh rates and primary display.

macOS 13 or laterApple siliconNo account needed

See it put a desk back together.

Thirty seconds, no sound: three displays reconnect scrambled, DisplayPilot recognizes the setup, restores it and checks the result.

How it works

Arrange once. It's put back every time.

Docks, KVM switches and sleep/wake scramble the arrangement macOS remembers. DisplayPilot notices the change and restores yours.

Every desk you use, remembered.

Save a setup as a profile once. When that set of displays reconnects, DisplayPilot recognizes it and restores the arrangement, automatically with Pro or in one click.

Home restored · 3 displays · positions, resolutions and refresh rates verified

Restored, then checked field by field.

After every restore, DisplayPilot reads the result back and reports anything macOS didn't apply. Where macOS gives apps no way to change a setting, such as rotation or HDR, it says so instead of pretending.

Two identical monitors, never mixed up.

Many monitors don't report a unique serial number, so two of the same model look identical to macOS. DisplayPilot tells them apart by where they sit in your saved arrangement.

And more, for the awkward cases.

Small tools for the moments macOS's own display settings don't cover.

Windows follow your cursor

Optionally open new app windows on whichever display your pointer is on.

Send a window to a display

⌘-right-click or middle-click in any app to move its front window to another display.

Live display controls

Change resolution, scaling, refresh rate, primary display and arrangement right now, without saving a profile first.

Waits for your dock

A short, adjustable delay lets docks and monitors finish waking before a setup is restored, with an optional retry.

Stays out of the way

Lives in the menu bar with no Dock icon, and can launch at login so it's ready before you plug in.

Only Apple's public APIs

No private system hooks. Where macOS can't change a setting, DisplayPilot tells you rather than faking it.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

How do I activate Pro?

After you buy, you'll get a license code by email. Open DisplayPilot, click Go Pro, paste the whole code and click Activate. The Pro screen then shows “Licensed to” your email address.

Do I need an account or an internet connection?

No. The license code is checked on your Mac, offline. There's no account to create and nothing to sign in to.

I use two monitors of the same model. Will it mix them up?

No. Two identical monitors often look the same to macOS, so DisplayPilot tells them apart by their position in your saved arrangement, and each goes back to its own place.

Which Macs does it run on?

Macs with Apple silicon running macOS 13 Ventura or later.

Why can't it rotate a display or turn HDR on?

macOS doesn't give apps a way to change those settings on Apple silicon Macs. DisplayPilot shows them for reference and tells you when a saved setting couldn't be applied.
